UPDATE: Over the weekend, Central Texas was hit with more storms that caused further flash flooding and hampered search and rescue efforts from last week’s deadly floods. The death toll now stands at 129 with over 170 people still missing. Fox News has a page with continuously updated news here:
https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/texas-flood-threat-search-missing-deaths-update
This is a heartbreaking story of 27-year-old Julian Ryan, who died a hero’s death saving his finance and their children and his mother from the rising flood waters.
We remind you to please keep praying for the victims and the safety of those searching for them. And if you can help, a donation to Samaritan’s Purse is the most effective way:
Please join us as well in praying for the victims of a multiple shooting Sunday in Lexington, Kentucky. A state trooper pulled over a driver who opened fire, wounding the trooper, who is in stable condition. The driver then carjacked another car and drove to the Richmond Road Baptist Church, where he opened fire on church grounds, killing two women and wounding two men before being shot dead by police. Police suspect he may have had some connection to the church, but the investigation is ongoing.
And please pray for the victims and their families after a fire swept through the Gabriel House assisted living facility in Fall River, Massachusetts, last night. Nine people are dead and 30 hospitalized, with five firefighters suffering non-life-threatening injuries. At this writing, this is a breaking story. You can read more here.

One Year Later
Sunday was the one-year anniversary of the attempted assassination and miraculous survival by a fraction of an inch of then-candidate Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. For Trump and Republicans, it was a time to look back and reflect on everything from the security failures that allowed the attack to the divine intervention in saving Trump’s life and how it altered his own view of his mission as President.
Trump also released a statement on the anniversary that’s a must-read. He thanked God for sparing his life, honored the first responders, and said that on this day, “we reaffirm that the American spirit has and will always triumph over forces of evil and destruction.”
He also noted that the would-be assassin critically wounded two rally goers and killed Trump supporter Corey Comperatore, a hero in life who was a military veteran and firefighter, and who died a hero, shielding his wife and daughters from the bullets with his own body.

It was also a time for reminders of the shocking ways that the media and Trump’s political opponents tried to downplay or spin this story. That ranged from CNN, whose headline for the story read, “Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after he falls at rally,” to the leftwing TDS sufferers who claimed it was staged with fake blood, conveniently ignoring the people who were hospitalized and died. There were also those who tried to blame Trump for the shooting, accusing him of sparking violence with his rhetoric.
That’s become even more absurd over the past year, as many leftists not only failed to be chastened by the assassination attempt, they’ve ramped up their violent political rhetoric, calling for blood and death to stop the agenda of their democratically-elected opponents. They’ve become like sharks that have gotten a taste of blood. Here’s just one of many examples; the news is full of them…
Aside from the rare exceptions standing up against violence, such as Sen. John Fetterman, the Democrats and their media allies have only gotten worse with their mindless anti-Trump rage, as Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media reports.
If the Democrats aren’t moved to stop their slide toward violence and anarchy by their consciences or basic human decency, then maybe they’ll be moved by the one thing that terrifies them most: losing political power. If they think that throwing tantrums and spewing violent rhetoric is going to help them win back Congress in 2026, then this new poll by their own super PAC, Unite The Country, has some bad news for them. Turns out the country is united – in being appalled and disgusted by today’s Democratic Party, which now has an approval rating below 35%. Frankly, that strikes us as frighteningly high.
Don’t believe Democrats
The Democrat outrage over an ICE raid of a state-licensed marijuana farm in California continues to keep blowing up in their faces in unexpected ways. Not only were there illegal aliens working at the facility, but their outrage over ICE allegedly exposing children to tear gas turned out to be due to the discovery that the facility was reportedly employing illegal child labor. That unfortunately comes as no surprise, since as this story reminds us, under Biden, the lack of immigration enforcement led to an explosion in the exploitation of children, from sexual abuse to illegal child labor.
On top of that, one of the illegal aliens arrested by ICE, over whom the Dems are shedding tears, has a record of kidnapping, attempted rape, and attempted child molestation – and he was working with the kids who were working on the pot farm illegally.
And did we mention that the president and co-founder of that cannabis concern is a big Democrat donor who gave the maximum $10,000 to Newsom’s campaign in 2018?
So if you still believe that it’s the Democrats who care about children and ICE that’s harming them, we have one question for you: What have you been smoking?
Bongino White House blow-up apparently real; Brennan/Comey probe part of larger conspiracy investigation
On Saturday afternoon, investigative reporter Julie Kelly posted a brief video saying her sources confirm that the blow-up between deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino and the Justice Department is quite real. (Of course, she said this two whole days ago, which is an eternity for such stories.)
Yes, apparently there was a blow-up at the White House on Wednesday relating to Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the Epstein file and what Bongino saw as a lack of accountability. Kelly agrees that this was “really bungled and botched from the very beginning.”
“You don’t go and start over-promising that you are going to be producing things in a highly sensitive case like this, one that has a lot of attention, and then fail to deliver,” she said.
Bongino, she disclosed, “is prepared to resign” if Bondi stays as attorney general. There would have to be some kind of “peace settlement” to keep that from happening. This situation is so serious, Kelly added, and has understandably sparked so much MAGA outrage that she does not see “a scenario where Pam Bondi survives this.” And it needs to be resolved fast.
We might find out as early as Monday if Bongino is resigning, she reported. It does appear that Patel will be remaining regardless. At the same time, she said, “Kash supports Dan and his decisions thoroughly.”
If Bongino does leave, that would imply that Bondi will be on the job for the foreseeable future. Through Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump did express support for the attorney general. But according to Kelly, who has a good sense of these things, this could represent “a big fracture” with Trump’s supporters. Sadly, this is taking the focus away from so many good things that are happening to reform the corruption within the FBI and DOJ (more on those below).
As for replacing Bongino if it comes to that, Kelly laughed that “I don’t know who would want to take that job after this.”
Mike Davis of the Article III Project has also weighed in on what he calls “the Epstein mess.”
Davis posted on X what he calls “the hard truth” of the Epstein case. He notes that there is apparently not a “list,” per se, but that the contents of Epstein’s Rolodex are already public knowledge. “And the file is largely unreleasable,” he says, “for many reasons including: 1) Grand-jury materials; 2) Court records under seal; 3) Child pornography; 4) Protection of victims; 5) Unsubstantiated, even double- or triple-hearsay bogus claims (like we saw during the Kavanaugh proceedings), which would permanently destroy the reputation of innocent people if released.”
Davis asks a great question: “Does anyone really believe Pam Bondi, Kash Patel or Dan Bongino would cover up for the likes of Bill Clinton or Bill Gates --- if they had that evidence?”
(Note: Of course, that question doesn’t take into consideration what OTHER people might need cover. And one assertion Davis makes, that “there are not tapes with powerful men raping kids,” can’t really be accepted at face value. We don’t know if somebody deep-sixed them or if they still exist somewhere.)
“The Trump Justice Department wants to be fully transparent,” Davis says. “But it can’t, for the reasons above. This is a case of no good deed goes unpunished.”

On Sunday, Trump told the press that he’d spoken with Bongino and claimed he “sounded terrific” and was “in good shape.” When asked if Bongino was still his deputy FBI director, he said, “Oh, I think so. I spoke to him today...very good guy. I’ve known him a long time...and he sounded terrific, actually. No, I think he’s in good shape.”
As Townhall reports, “Trump made it clear that the Justice Department should ignore what he called ‘a political distraction’ and stay focused on real priorities --- uncovering voter fraud, investigating the stolen 2020 election, holding ActBlue accountable, and cracking down on violent criminals threatening public safety.”

Jennifer Oliver O’Connell at RedState has commentary on Trump’s remarks as well. The left’s narrative that Trump is hiding these records because he’s named in them is “patently stupid,” she says, as if there had been the slightest connection between Trump and Epstein, the Democrats would’ve put it out there years ago and exploited it like crazy.
“While nothing will be certain until Bongino returns to his post in DC, it sounds as though a unified front is forming,” O’Connell concluded, before going on to talk about other stories worthy of attention, such as ICE sting operations.
“So, Bongino’s sort of ‘the canary in the coal mine,” Scott Adams said on Saturday, “because we just assume he’s gonna do whatever is the right thing.” Agreed, that is a reasonable assumption.
“And we don’t know what that is,” Adams said, “‘cause we don’t know what pressure he’s under, or anything like that.” Adams trusts Bongino to do the right thing. (He has a similarly high opinion of Patel and [yes] Bondi and so will not “take sides” unless there’s some new piece of information that warrants that.) Of course, if Bongino quits, that decision likely coincides with what would be best for him personally as well, as he gave up a tremendous media career --- at least temporarily --- to serve in government. (His domestic life in Florida was apparently decimated as well, though wife Paula is reportedly 100 percent supportive.)
Of course, this would be a terrible look for the Justice Department, telling us, in effect without telling us, that something is up with the Epstein file and that a huge cover-up is afoot, for whatever reason.
The Blaze is all over this story, having filed a FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) request for all of Bongino’s “texts and emails regarding Epstein to Pam Bondi.” We would think that much of this is classified information, at least for now, but apparently, they’re assuming redactions. Seems a bit premature, until one considers how long it can take the government to respond to a FOIA request!
BIG RELATED NEWS: As we told you last week, the DOJ has launched a criminal investigation into former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan’s roles in creating the Trump-Russia Hoax, with --- and this was the big part --- an exploration of possible conspiracy charges. This might be wide-ranging enough even to include the lies of anti-Trump “inquisitor” Jack Smith. As John Solomon now reports, it also opens the door to a special counsel investigation, to investigate whether there was “a criminal conspiracy to meddle in three U.S. elections to the benefit of Democrats and the detriment of President Donald Trump…”
The conspiracy case has been open since before Kash Patel became FBI director. According to Solomon, it would benefit greatly by the declassification of a couple of secret tranches of evidence.
The first one is a “classified annex” to an old Inspector General probe into Hillary Clinton’s email server --- remember that, in 2016? --- that has been sought by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley. This is “believed to show that credible information about possible wrongdoing was intentionally ignored by the FBI.” Really???
The second comes from the final report on “Russiagate” from Special Counsel John Durham. Dubbed “Clinton plan intelligence,” it was reportedly placed in a “classified annex” to keep it from the American public and even many in Congress.
If Trump will declassify these, prosecutors will be able to submit them to a grand jury (which apparently could be outside of DC) to show a pattern of spy agencies ignoring intelligence or evidence damaging to Democrats while jumping on flawed evidence to pursue Trump in an all-out weaponization of the “justice” system.
Could it be that all roads --- as we’ve said all along --- really do lead to Hillary? Well, of course they do.
Solomon’s detailed report is a MUST-READ, particularly the points under “Building a case against weaponization of the justice system against Trump,” and through to the end.
In another must-read piece, Matt Margolis at PJ Media looks at Steve Bannon’s interview with Solomon on Bannon’s podcast “Real America’s Voice,” in which Solomon said that “MAGA base Americans are going to be happy when they see where this is all heading.”
“There is a conspiracy case that was opened that looks at this window as a very large window,” Solomon told Bannon. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a special prosecutor named by Pam Bondi in the next week or two.”
Margolis brings up a possibility we hadn’t even thought of: that Bondi might actually BE reassigned to be this special prosecutor, with someone new replacing her as AG. One way or another, expect huge breaking news. “If Solomon’s reporting is correct,” he says, “this could mark the most consequential legal development yet in the Deep State’s war against Trump --- and the first serious attempt by federal law enforcement to hold the anti-Trump operation accountable.”
Perjury charges will likely figure prominently for a number of former intel officials. Check out Paul Sperry’s report for RealClear Investigations and the reasons will become...real clear.
The infamous Democrat attorney/activist Marc Elias appeared with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace to talk about the significance of this investigation. So did John Brennan. This is all quite comical, so, when you have time, enjoy...
As Margot Cleveland reported in The Federalist, the analysts working under Brennan who drafted the seriously flawed “assessment” of Trump’s alleged involvement with Russia are still at the CIA. She thinks some of them have even been promoted. We suppose it’s not necessary to advise Director John Ratcliffe that he has a lot more housecleaning to do.
RELATED: The Epoch Times has a good piece on how the DOJ might choose to deal with President Biden’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who declined to answer questions last week on grounds of doctor-patient confidentiality and (yes) the 5th Amendment. Keep in mind, Biden’s doctor is not the target here; it’s those who were running the show. Learn all about immunity and the different types that might be offered the good doctor so we can get at the truth…
RELATED HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READING --- The Epoch Times has an opinion piece by Jeffrey A. Tucker about the enormous significance of the Supreme Court ruling in Trump v. American Federation of Government Employees, which is that the President of the United States actually has the authority to manage the staffing and personnel of the Executive Branch, even if this leads to mass firings.
Tucker notes the panic from the left, attributing this to what they must know is “the end of the administrative state as we know it.” Precisely what needed to happen.
“This decision clears the way not only for Trump, but also for every future President, finally to be President,” Tucker writes. “This amounts to the most massive blow to the administrative state --- and blow for human freedom generally in the United States and maybe around the world --- in a century of misrule...This is the beast that needed slaying. This is the whole struggle or, at least, the core of it. We finally have clarity.”
